May of 2019 was kicked off with one of the most exciting releases so far this year – Plastic chess pieces. We’ve finally finished off January and are heading in the month of ‘Love’. The first month of 2019 was fascinating with a couple of chess sets to talk about. A bunch of new chess sets was announced last month, but all eyeballs revolved around the Reproduced Vintage 1930 German Knubbel chess set last month and the fans are lining up to get one. As we get closer to Valentine’s 2019 the calm before the storm has started to settle in. We have already started our Valentine’s Day Mega Sale and it will last until until stocks last. As we sent off the first month of 2019, let’s look back and see what new announcements have been made last month.

Another month passed and it’s time, to sum up the most important launches of the past month. Reproductions dominated the chess community over the past month, but none shines brighter than the Reproduced 1973 Petropolis 1979 Interzonal Tournament Chess Set. It was certainly the hottest set in our new arrival section over the past month. Reproduced 1973 Petropolis 1979 Interzonal Tournament Chess Set asserted it’s dominance over the new arrivals section last month. A very special Staunton style set was made for the 1973 Petropolis Interzonal Chess Tournament held in Brazil. The set featured robust pieces with 4.5″ kings and impressive uniquely different hands carved Knights. It’s fitting that Brazilian player Henrique Mecking won the event. A similar style “Petropolis” set was also used in the 1979 Rio de Janeiro Interzonal tournament also held in Brazil. Robert Huebner, Lajos Portish, and Tigran Petrosian tied for first place honors. Just like our Mustang series, the King comes with two beauteous king finials(each side) & proudly stands at 4.3/4.5 inches and its base is robust 1.6 inches. Know More->

1950 Dubrovnik Bobby Fischer Reproduced Chess Set V2 in Burnt Lacquer Finish also made its debut and gathered a lot of fan attention. Like it’s predecessor, this chess set was designed without any religious symbols, without the king crown or bishop mitres. The pieces were designed for play and had wide bases and the pieces required a chess board with minimum 55 mm squares. Know More->

Another noteworthy announcement from the past month is the Reproduced Ferocious Knights 1890’s Russian Tournament Chess Set. This spectacular chess set was used in premier Russian tournaments at that time. Moving ahead to reproduced 1963-1966 Piatigorsky cup chess set. We’ve launched one of our best selling Piatigorsky chess set in the new antique finish. This fascinating Staunton-style chess set (referred latterly as Piatigorsky Cup Chess Set) was designed by the U.S. International Master Herman Steinern in the mid-1940s.

Coming on to the 1972 Reproduced Fischer-Spassky Staunton Pattern Chess Set V2.0. We’ve reintroduced our impeccable reproduction in the antique & Sheesham variant. This historic Fischer and Boris Spassky Chess set was produced by the legendary company Jaques of London, who also introduced the first Staunton chess set in the fall of 1849. We have reproduced the exact reproduction of the chess set used during the iconic 1972 World Chess Championship rivalry match between legendary Bobby Fischer and reigning Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland. The reproduction of Fischer and Boris Spassky Chess set(also known as Reykjavik chess set) has been attempted – but never before accurate like this. This reproduction exemplifies a perfect combination of class and history.

Next, on the list is Championship Baku Chess Set. chessbazaar® proudly presents the reproduced 1961 Soviet Championship Baku Chess Set in a unique premium chocolate color. Monthly Round-Up – May 2018

Yet another month is behind us and our 11th Anniversary Sale dominated the chess community over the past month. First and foremost we want to thank you, everyone, for choosing us. Last month the spotlights were primarily on the Reproduced Drueke Vintage Edition chess pieces exquisitely made from ebony wood and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.05 inches and its base is robust 1.73 inches. This is a captivated design featuring the magnificently robust and remarkable knight. The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, and details around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. Shop Now->

The Antique 19th Century Early Staunton Chess Set in Ebony & Antiqued Boxwood with King Side Stamping also made its debut and gathered a lot of fan attention. The king is 3.38 inches high and its base is a robust 1.6 inches. The chess set comes with 34 pieces including 2 extra queens. This antique chess set was produced in early 19th Century. The set was beautiful in its functionality yet easy to be produced in large scale. The pieces were rugged with heavy stable bases which did not tumble easily. The rooks were turned to look solid castles, the pawns were minimalist but refined, the bishops had simple miters. The design of the set was somewhat similar to 1849 chess set. There are many variations in the design available now but most of these have been derived from the original Staunton design. Shop Now->

Chess Carnival 2018 was jam-packed with new arrivals. The past month has been really a busy one, we introduced a bunch of new reproductions last month. This is a classic design featuring the magnificent and robust knight.

Next on the list is Reproduced 90s Imperial Collector Series Chess Set. Designing this chess set has been attempted – but never before accurate like this. This chess set is reproduced in collaboration with one of the greatest & oldest chess carvers in the chess world. The same carver who crafted the original imperial Chess Set back in 90s. The new version features a significantly improved knight, Rook & Queen. We’ve also increased the width of every chessmen. The Wider base gives the better stability while playing speed chess.

Reproduced Richard Whitty Antique chess set is the most beautiful chess set we have ever launched! Yes, you heard it right Richard Whitty set has been generating a lot of buzz & spreading it’s attention like wildfire in every chess enthusiast mind. Its new kind of king stamping is marvelous. Richard Whitty was one of the greatest chess carvers of all time. He worked in the John Jaques factory which was in London and carved some spectacular chess sets. Though Richard Whitty carved many chess sets but this design had no match. Know More=>

From 2007 to till date, we have launched the different kind of chess sets ranging from magnetic series to giant series, but this chess set is specially designed for die-hard chess fans out there. Reproduced Vintage 1950’s Circa Bohemia Staunton Series German Chess Set. This chess set is also reproduced in collaboration with “Michael Ladzinski”, one of the greatest chess collectors in the chess world. The 1950’s vintage circa Bohemia German set was very popular in 1950’s because of its fabulous design and its so-called “dragon” Knights. A later version of the 50’s set was used at the 1970 Siegen Olympiad with less impressive “chicken head” Knights.

Moving on to the Candidates Series. The Candidates Series Staunton chess set is exquisitely made from bud rosewood or ebony wood and natural boxwood. This is a captivated design featuring the magnificently robust and remarkable knight. Reproduced 1880s-90s Circa Lasker Staunton Pattern Antique Chess Set is an arresting reproduction, mainly for its excellent value and exquisite design, featuring the finest aspects of Staunton pattern. This Lasker Staunton Pattern Chess set was produced by the legendary company Jaques of London in 1880. Jaques of London company was known for their well-finished quality chess pieces, they introduced their first chess set in the fall of 1849. 1849 Staunton chess set was beautiful in its functionality yet easy to be produced in large scale. Shortly after the 1849 chess set became popular Jaques of London launched a new chess set.

Things have really been getting heated during the last week when we launched Reproduced 1961 Soviet Championship Baku Chess Set. Reproduced 1961 Soviet Championship Baku Chess Set’s dark pieces are made of genuine Ebonized boxwood and the light pieces are made of Boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4″ tall with a base diameter of 1.57″. The carving and turning the quality of the knight is quite spectacular. Last but not the least is Reproduced 90s French Championship Tournament Chess Set. This peerless Reproduced Fide Approved 90s French Tournament Chess Set in Staunton style is made up of bud rosewood / ebonized and boxwood. This chess set has been specifically designed for the tournaments or serious chess players. The King proudly stands at 3.89 inches and its base is a robust 1.61 inches. This fascinating French chess set was designed by the famous French maker called Chavet in the early 90s. The set was used during the iconic World Chess Championship in 1990(Lyon). Since then, the design has gone through many iterations but this early 90s version is one of the best chess sets ever designed in the Staunton style.

Moving ahead with another much anticipated Reproduced 1940 Soviet Club Chess Set in Ebony & Ivory White chess set which was due to get launched in last week of April, has been launched today. Here’s the link=>
