The set features a Tournament standard 3.75" King with a base diameter of 1.65 inches. The GM Blitz Edition is expertly weighted from our master artisans and it's superb size proportioning from a king to pawn make this chess set an excellent choice for the blitz play in chess tournaments/clubs or regular home and school play.

Chess Pieces Weight: 1080 grams approx. (38.09 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional. The opposing pieces are made of boxwood. Boxwood is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The knights are well-crafted and exhibit the sky-high level of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

Craftsmanship: What makes this chess set so unique is its knight as it is made from a single piece of wood, there are no joins. The carving of the knight is quite spectacular. To achieve this extraordinary level of detail and finish, our master artisans take a whole day to carve a single chess set. This alone fact separates the GM Blitz Edition set from every other set in its range. Pieces are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade boxwood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
