The King proudly stands at 3.79(Tournament Size) inches and its base is a robust 1.6 inches. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in ebonized boxwood. All Chess pieces are expertly carved in India and weighted for prodigious hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board.

The opposing pieces are made of Natural boxwood which is traditionally used for reproduced chess sets. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. History: Challenger Robert James"Bobby" Fischer and Boris Spassky battled for the World Chess Championship in 1972. The match took place in 1972 at Reykjavik the capital city of Iceland and has been dubbed the Match of the Century. Fischer won the match by impressive 12½–8½, becoming the eleventh undisputed World Champion. However, Fischer lost the first game by a blunder in a clearly drawn endgame and the second game by forfeit because Fischer refused to play the game in a dispute over the playing conditions. Unfortunately, tournament organizers refused to give fulfill his demands and the match appeared destined for a forfeit victory for the reigning Champion, Spassky yielded since it would have been a hollow victory. Fischer was upset from the cameras in the first game so tournament organizers shifted the third game to a back room, away from the cameras where Fischer defeated the mighty Boris Spassky who ruled the chess yard for the past quarter-century.

This historic Fischer and Boris Spassky Chess set was produced by the legendary company Jaques of London, who also introduced the first Staunton chess set in the fall of 1849.
