This Reykjavik Championship Series chess set in Staunton style is made up of ebonized boxwood and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 3.7 inches and its base is a robust 1.6 inches. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in ebonized boxwood. All Chess pieces are expertly carved in India and weighted for prodigious hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board.

The opposing pieces are made of natural boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. Thick green felt which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen gives you the smooth movement on the chess board.

Customer Reviews
Perfect! Review by Dan the Man
First time ordering through Chess Bazaar so I was a little uneasy at first, but once the pieces arrived all doubt vanished. Got 2 orders of this Reykjavik set during the Valentine's Sale, and I couldn't be happier. Pieces arrived promptly to my home in Oregon and each piece was individually wrapped (quite well) to protect it during transportation. The pieces themselves are extraordinarily beautiful and the weights in them are perfect. Highly recommend. Thank you Chess Bazaar! (Posted on 2/9/2018)
exceptional craftsmanship Review by J.S. from Canada
The black finish in this set appears as good if not better than genuine ebony, and the detail is as fine as most luxury Staunton sets. The weighting is very good. (Posted on 9/27/2017)
