The French Warrior chess set is made up of bud rosewood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.44 inches and its base is robust 1.79 inches. This is a classic design featuring the magnificent and strong designer knight. Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in bud rosewood. Because of it's rarity, bud rosewood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. Bud rosewood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood for luxury chess sets.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and triple weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. Chess pieces have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chess men for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

Craftsmanship: The carving of the knight is quite spectacular, look closely at the details around the mane and nostrils. The design of the other pieces is also highly commended to allow the set to truly stand out. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade bud rosewood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully hand crafted in India with dainty details and the design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces is comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $1000+ by other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

Awesome Luxuary Chess

I love the special pawns on this chess set and the knights really stand out too. The queen is very tall compared to the king but the rounded shape of the top part makes is unique. Luxury sets are very nice to display but I worry using them to play; too many intricate pieces. Still I will get the ebony version once available again.

Better than what I expected them to be

Very nice crafted knights, very original pawns and beautiful pieces overall but make sure to choose the Finished type: Lacquer (Glossy). It will take care the wood from oxidation and it gives them a very nice shiny look. Lasting Pleasure

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.
