About: 2014 Sinquefield Cup

The 2014 Sinquefield Cup honored the founders of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, featuring world-class players: GM Magnus Carlsen, GM Levon Aronian, GM Veselin Topalov, GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Hikaru Nakamura, and GM Fabiano Caruana. Held from August 27 to September 7, it was a double round-robin tournament.

It was the strongest chess event ever held on U.S. soil. The original chess set used in the tournament had a 3.75" King height. The players competed for a $100,000 top prize. The highlight was Fabiano Caruana’s dominant performance, defeating Carlsen and winning the coveted Sinquefield Cup.

Beautiful craftsmanship, impressive value

I got the ebony and boxwood set, 3.75 in king. Arrived in perfect shape to Loveland, CO. I got the set after making a custom chess table from mahogany with white maple and purple heart 2 inch squares. The pieces fit it well and this will be a family heirloom. The knights are elegant and stately. Thank you!

Great set!

The set exceeded my expectations. It is gorgeous, and I think it is better in person than it is pictured. Delivery was fast, and a slight imperfection that one of the pieces had was replaced and shipped pretty fast. I got the 60mm board to go with this set and I like the look and feel. Great set

A dream chess set which recreates accurately enough the famous set from Sinquefield Cup 2014 (although there are small mismatches). Triple weighted pieces feel really nice in the hand. Overall look of the chessmen is aesthetic and the knights are one of the best. I would say that suitable square size should be (6mm)

Classic set

This is one of the best chess sets in the 3.75"" King size that you can get. The pieces are perfectly weighted and the knights are solid with sturdy bases and one of the most attractive styles available. Carving was top notch. I love the feel and balance of this set. It should be matched with a quality wood board with 55mm (or 2.25"") squares.

Nearly Perfect.

The Queen needs to be slightly taller. The knight could use a little more time in the detailing process. But overall this is an excellent set. Very satisfied and I highly recommend it. \n\nCheckmate!

nearly there

The top piece is the King, the worst is the bishop due to big head with unnecessary deep thick cut. Also pieces could be a size bigger to match the size of the King. I found little inaccuracies on horses. The pawns are superb and all pieces base are flat:excellent. I have these in black white and I love it although their imperfections.

Nice set

This is very nice set although the price is high. Official Staunton sells similar sets at lower prices during their 50% off sale. I prefer CB although the quality of Official Staunton is much higher.

A very good choice

This is a good quality set, fit for a 55mm or 57mm (2.25inches) board. A 50mm board would be a bit small.\nNice carving, detail and finish. Not perfect but extremely good for the price. Weight was 1610gr for the set (34 pieces) and king's weight 86gr. Ordered on the 23rd of May, shipped on the 16th of June, arrived (UK) within 3 days, on the 19th.\nPackaging was very good and the pieces arrived without any scratch or other damage.\nBottom line: For the price, the set is excellent. \nIf you are looking for the perfect set and flawless craftmanship, this is not for you and you should get ready to pay at least 3-4 times the price. \nBut If you want a really nice set, with a good feel and nice weight, for everyday use and on a fair and reasonable price, then this is highly recommended!\n

One of the best sets for a two inch board

Problem

I recently bought a set that had a small crack in one of the pawns. Sapna in Support was most gracious in the remedy of this problem and I received a replacement quickly thereafter. Chess Bazaar was true to it's word regarding replacements. I know of no other site that makes it so easy for their customers.
