I got this set from Chess Bazaar several years ago, but had not laid eyes on it in awhile. It is an amazingly beautiful and finely detailed set. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, these chess pieces are so finely crafted and attractive as to be unsurpassed. This is one of the best Staunton style interpretations and artisan creations of all time.

The Chetak II pieces are beautiful and I am glad that I added these pieces to my collection. The knights are carved with great detail and rooks with rounded turrets are the standout pieces, for me. The four star rating is to reflect some slight imperfections in the finish and some colour differences in the base to the knights which was put down to the natural colour variations in the wood. I had the option to return selected pieces but decided to keep them. Another lovely set.

I myself am from Russia (Russian Federation). Everything is fine, everything is fast and high-quality, I will continue to buy here, we have almost no such masters))) That is, of course they make chess, but not such a variety of shapes and such quality, such beautiful sets of chess pieces????????????

Wow let me tell you I had buy Chess sets since 2005 from companies like The Chess Store, House of Staunton, Chess warehouse, the Chess Piece. But this Company The ChessBazaar has winning my Heart. The quality of the set is Superb nice weight and I have all different kinds of Knights but the The Indian Chetak is a Stallion!! in comparison to the other Knights ( Horses ). I purchased the Indian Chetak 2 in bud rosewood and boxwood , happy with my purchase, the knights are artfully crafted. The pieces are very uniform in color, there are minor imperfections but this is expected from hand carving.Every thing from previous reviews were helpful. I liked the Ebony/ Bud rosewood combination in the pictures but in reality this combination is very dark to distinguish the pieces in a game.\nMy only regret is not buying the box at the same time since one does not get the same discount if purchased separately .\nDelivery was very prompt . The pieces were meticulously wrapped in protective foam.\nI just wish the king was slightly larger , like 4.5 and with more hand carving features, Somthing for chessbazaar to think about for next version ( Indian Chetak III) !!

Absolutely lives up to, and exceeds one's expectations. Shapes are gorgeous, colors are stunning, and even brighter and more interesting, than in the photos. Fit and finish are impeccable. Pieces were extremely well packed and arrived in perfect condition. Shipping from Chandigarh to my house in the Seattle area took less than five days from the time the order was placed. Sometimes it happens that something crosses your path and you instantly know that it is the thing u were actually looking for. This happened to me when I saw the chetak 2 set. The set is breathtaking and truly noble. The knights are exquisite and very symmetric. Pictures correspond to reality. No further comment needed. I definitely recommend this set.

An absolutely stunning chess set, the workmanship is astounding, as is the value for money. Nothing I've seen ( and I've seen a lot) comes anywhere close to the perfection that is the Chetak 2. The Chetak 2 has been the supreme culmination of all my chess related shopping efforts over the last 2 months spanning 7+ sellers and having viewed more than 13000 chess items online. Right off the back I will start by admitting that this series is a masterpiece of design that has incorporated into it various themes from the natural world and even various aspects of the game of chess itself. A good starting place is the base of each piece which is as broad as you would expect to find in the finest luxury set. If this firm base is akin to a solid opening in a game of chess where the various warriors engage in battle, then the 3 rings right above the base that are aesthetically broad in girth and narrow in thickness, play the role of a shock absorber for the fighting warriors. The trunk of these pieces go tapering to the top just like the Giant Sequoias grow skyward seeking the highest points of stature. The continuity of this theme is well preserved in the next set of 3 rings which are contrastingly thicker but proportionately smaller in girth. The highlight of the various themes of design in this set is the inverted cap right beneath the heads of these pieces, placed there, as if to bear the heavy burden of having to engage in a deadly battle. Although every single piece is absolutely a delight to the visual sense, the highly ornate carvings of the horse deserves a special mention. The graceful features of the horses head remind you of those beautiful Arabian racehorses which are oh so handsome and oh so fast. The various themes of artistic design have been infused together in such a brilliant and well proportioned way that this fine set will make its presence felt on any large luxury chess board. Add to all this the vibrant arrays of hues ranging from the light orange to the darkest rosewood, the bud rosewood pieces are a menacingly exciting stimulation to the visual cortex. The boxwood pieces provide a soothing contrast. As if all this wasn't enough sensory stimulation, the massively weighted pieces provide the final touch while playing the game because you can really feel you are moving something quite substantial.\nJust like a solid opening in a game of chess is essential to build a dynamic middle-game to produce a successful endgame, the beauty of the pieces only go upward in a smooth continuum of design, from the base to the top.
