I'm very impressed with this storage box. It actually fits my set of Antique Series Dublin Pattern Calvert Chess Pieces (4.1"" size, 34 pieces, SKU R0339). It is a slightly snug fit, but not forced (at all). As many report, the packing was high-quality and the shipment was fast. Would definitely buy again (am likely to buy another one for my slightly smaller Staunton set). I *love* this website and business, and am a repeat customer.

I was requested to review this again, though I've already done so. I keep getting another one or two wood boxes every so often, when the price is attractive, to put older sets into from cheaper cloth storage bags. Quality has been consistent and flawless. Highly recommended.

This Sheeham wood box is perfect to store and protect your valuable Chessmen. It is a light box, but well made and strong to provide a safe home for your chessmen. It is also an attractive option, and they can stack. Much better than a cloth bag.

Just received a couple more of these boxes. Even more beautiful and perfect than the last ones (if that is even possible). Flawless. The best choice for your lesser-priced tournament-sized wooden pieces - more protection than a bag and a lower price (and more space-saving) than the bigger boxes for luxury pieces (that separate each piece) that provide the ultimate in protection. The only improvement I can suggest would be to provide a flexible cushioned pad that could be inserted over the tops of smaller-sized pieces when space permits, to cushion possible bouncing in transport, though this might add to the cost somewhat. Alternatively, you can just cut some of the styrofoam packing material (or use some bubble wrap) down to fit in the tops of the compartments instead of throwing it out, and this will cost you nothing. Then even pieces undersized for the box can be protected better.

I recently received a couple of these boxes. They are attractive wood boxes for protecting your better quality chess pieces. One top fit perfectly. The other was a bit uneven and would wobble a bit and make a clunking sound from slightly too loose or uneven a fit to the grooves if pressed on one side, but really doesn't interfere with its utility. You would probably never notice if you don't examine and test things closely. Both boxes closed correctly and had magnets to keep them in place. They could be improved a bit by felting on all sides instead of just the bottom and divider, and adding a flexible pad for the top to help pad and hold pieces in place when there is some extra space at the top to permit. A great box to hold your chessmen for those who prefer this type of box, and takes much less space than the suitcase style cases, though those keep all pieces separated and are the ultimate in protection for your most treasures pieces. If pieces are packed well, these boxes will easily hold most sets with 4"" Kings and maybe up to 4.1"" or 4.2"" if the pieces are not of a bulky style. If not sure, it may be better to go with the larger size box, though this smaller size will save some money and space if your pieces will fit in. I had no problem easily fitting in CB's Popular Staunton set with 4.1"" King.

This chess box I received is one of the best chess box I ever had. The craftmanship & finished is so nice that you would not worry for many years to come. Made of solid wood of very good quality. Well felted. Would fit even for King's of 4"". This chess box would look better as it gets old.

La caja es muy hermosa, esta bien construida. Sólida, bien trabajada. Se han cuidado los detalles estéticos. Su tapa deslizante con unos pequeños imanes en el bordo para evitar que la caja se habrá es un detalle extra. Las piezas de 3.75 caben muy bien.

I was really impressed with this box - I love the design, and it's very high quality. The wood has an attractive grain, and the sides of the box are quite thick.\n\nAlso, it was well-packaged, and delivered to the UK, from India, in three days from dispatch!!

Overall, this box is nice however there are some areas in need of improvement.\nThe QC is patchy - there were some nicks out of the edge of the slide guides of the box.\nThe green felt inside is the weakest part of the box. It's so coarse and such a low thread count, that is it was any lower, you could use the felt as a fishing net. I can see the individual threads in the weave, which indicates low grade felt.\n\nI really like the inlaid magnets to stop the slide accidentally sliding open. The finish of the box is very good.\nThis is a good box, but not great. I would only buy it on a heavy discount and never pay full rpice for it - ever.

We have been purchasing this storage box for tournament chess peices as prizes for otu annual tournament. Not only is this an elegant storage system it is suitable for adding engraved plates with the tournament sponsors name. Chess Bazaar provides desirable pieces at an affordable price.

A beautiful box when I saw it on the website, I ordered it thinking that it would look the same but it is not. When it came over, the box looks like an old box. The cover of the box at the lip has a chunk of wood that is unfinished. Few scratches and the divider on top did not touch it with varnish. Not too happy about it. I email them with a complained but no response.

These are extremely fine boxes for wooden pieces 4 inches or less. We offer our prize wood sets in these boxes and our sponsor adds their name on the inside and tournament title and year on the lid.

The box is minimalist and assembled without any nails. The finishing fits the sheesham perfectly. Just hope that I don't damage it during usage.

Pictures do not do this box justice - it is a stout well crafted and very handsome storage solution to your chess pieces

I think it's good looking and functional. It is heavy with the men in it so some felt on the bottom would have been nice. But overall, a nice box.

This is a really nice and well crafted box. Fast delivered and very well packaged. I also found the box better than in the pics as the wood looks beautiful in the flesh and the box is very well finished. True that it is not that big and demands some care on the arrangement of your typical 4"" king's chessmen inside, but that is something that is always advisable whatever the size of a box. Happy with my purchase,

It is a beautiful box! Having said that, it requires careful arranging of all the pieces to get them all to fit into the box. Were I to do it all over again I would buy a bigger wooden box for these chess pieces as is recommended in the ""Related Products"" tab. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I am confident I am will enjoy using these chess pieces for many years without any reservations whether or not I bought the right set.
