We’ve finally finished off January and are heading in the month of ‘Love’. The first month of 2019 was fascinating with a couple of chess sets to talk about. A bunch of new chess sets was announced last month, but all eyeballs revolved around the Reproduced Vintage 1930 German Knubbel chess set last month and the fans are lining up to get one. This chess set features chessmen that are crafted with a boxwood only. The King height is 2.91(Analysis Size) inches and its base is a robust 1.4 inches. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in stained crimson boxwood. After Knubbel the focal point in the chess world is on the Reproduced B & Co 1860s Antique Chess Set. This chess set features chessmen that are crafted with a combination of ebony wood and antiqued boxwood. The King proudly stands at 3.93 inches and its base is a robust 1.8 inches. This fascinating chess set was produced by B & Company in the 1860s. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the marvelous miter cut on the bishops. All chess pieces have a wide base which adds another interesting dimension to the set. The carving and turning the quality of the knight are quite spectacular. Over and out at camp the Canadian Staunton Series Chess Set. This chess set is the treat for bargain buyers, priced at $99 with free international shipping. This exquisitely made from ebonized boxwood and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 3.38 inches and its base is robust 1.41 inches. This is a traditional design featuring the magnificently robust and modern knight. This engrossing chess set was designed by internationally renowned Bruce Campbell. When Bruce Campbell decided to craft a set, the first thing that came into his mind was that the set he will make does not only look and feel good but also be ‘playable’.
