This dazzling chess set "The Sher-E-Punjab Series" in Staunton pattern, is made up of bud rose wood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.6 inches and its base is robust 1.9 inches. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in bud rose wood. Because of it's rarity, bud rose wood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. Bud rose wood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood for luxury chess sets.

Weight : 1750 grams (61.72 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and double weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. Chess pieces have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chess men for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

Craftmanship: This chess set features a spectacular knight carved in bud rose wood and boxwood. Other chess pieces are also uniquely stylized to allow the set to truly stand out. They are meticulously hand crafted from the finest grade bud rose wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully hand crafted in India with dainty details that makes the Sher-E-Punjab series unique. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces is comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $1000+ by other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

Design Inspiration: The Sher-E-Punjab series is manufactured in Amritsar, India. Inspired from the famous Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Maharaja of the Punjab, our Sher-E-Punjab Series personifies the legacy of the famous Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The sweeping mane, a distinctive head shape and a bold design of the knight represent the "Lion of Punjab". Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire, which came to power in the Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. The empire, based in the Punjab region, existed from 1799 to 1849. It was forged, on the foundations of the Dal Khalsa, under the leadership of Ranjit Singh from a collection of autonomous Sikh Misls. The Golden Temple in Amritsar was completely renovated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

This chess set is expertly carved by the instructions of our designing team in Amritsar. We’ve considered the diminutive details of this chess set, to bring out the captivating eye-catching design. All chess pieces have elegant visual appeal that blends well for permanent display on a cocktail table. Matching chess board for these pieces is available at our web store at extra cost. Shop Here
