We are pleased to announce the Excalibur Luxury Artisan series heirloom quality chess set exquisitely made from ebony and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.6 inches and its base is robust 1.9 inches. This is a luxury design featuring the magnificently robust and solitary knight.

Chess Pieces Weight : 2000 grams approx. (70.54 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus ( ±) 10%.

The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional.The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for the white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique rings and elegant curves.

Design Inspiration: The knight of this chess set is inspired by the sword of the l egendary King Arthur. The sweeping mane and distinctive head shape gives the knight aggressive and ready-to-attack look. 

Craftsmanship:   Did you notice? All chess pieces have handmade dotted lines at the bottom of the shank, for an elegant look.   The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, craftsmanship around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding that allows the set to truly stand out. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully handcrafted in India and takes some influences from the Pegasus Series . Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true  intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces are comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $3000+ by other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces:  The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
